Alternative A: 22.7 km – alternative B: 20.8 km
Route description:
Harrachov, Nový Svět. The route begins again, at the Motejlek Hotel. Go along the major road to the crossing at the Karolína Hotel. From there, carry on across Harrachov to the bus station. Then turn right, across the bridge over the Mumlava River, along the green tourist sign towards Rýžoviště. Further, follow the lovely Krakonošova Road, climbing to the crossroad called Ručičky.
Ručičky, the crossroad. At the crossroad, carry on rightwards at the kiosk. At first, you will almost follow the contour line (and later go slightly downwards), subsequently going up to the crossroad in Studenov. The built-up forest road (the so-called Janova Road), is guided by the blue tourist sign.
Studenov, the crossroad. Go straight ahead behind the hut, turn left, and go down along the built-up road to the crossroad Krásná vyhlídka, below.
Alternative A: At the hut in Studenov, go straight to the ski slope from the Čertova Mountain. As soon as the terrain starts to elevate, turn left, then go down as far as the sharp turn to the left, below. You can see ski jump towers, and below you there is the town of Harrachov. That is where this alternative connects to the main route.
Krásná vyhlídka, the crossroad. Turn right at the crossroad, and go up past the cottages in the wood (the place is called Hleďsebe). Without turning, go on to the crossroad on the plain. From there, go rightwards for about 1,2 km towards the ski jump towers, you will return to this crossroad again, later. That is where the route connects to the alternative.
The Čertova Mountain, the crossroad at the ski jump towers. After you have enjoyed the view of Harrachov from above, go back to the crossroad below. From there, go down along the asphalt road without having to pedal as far as the road in Janov. Look out for the pike at the end of the road. When you reach the major road, go down leftwards past the saw mill in Janov, to Mýto.
Alternative B: Go along the major road, turn right, back to the start of the route.
Mýto, the crossing. At the crossing turn left, then take the next turn right between the petrol station and Hotýlek, in Mýto. Behind the old bridge over the Jizera River, turn right and go up past the cable railway centre, behind the river, above the Cutisin Factory on the major road. Straight along the major road, turn right at the Sandra Hotel. Turn right at the signpost, and cross the bridge towards the cottages in Kořenov, Údolí naděje. Go along the road amongst the cottages, straight towards the wood and through the pike, at first steeply inclining as it mounts to Mýtiny, at the top. From the car park below the railway station in Mýtiny, go straight on along the road. At first, the road is plain, later it leads pleasantly downwards back to the start of the route.
