Route description:
Harrachov, Nový Svět. The route starts in Harrachov, Nový Svět at the Motejlek Hotel. From there it leads, along the major road through Janov, to the crossing in Mýto. At the crossing at the petrol station, go on along the major road (slightly inclining rightwards) behind the arched bridge over the Jizera River. Take the first right, and go to Kořenov along the minor road. Head upwards, past the Márt Restaurant and the U Krbu Inn, for the railway station.
Kořenov, railway station. From the railway station go straight and cross the railway, up towards Horní Polubný. Turn right at the first crossing (at the Sport hotel), and continue climbing the local road, to Václavíkova Studánka at the top. Carry on without turning, as far as the car park below Bukovec in the Jizerka settlement.
Jizerka, a car park below Bukovec – Mořina. Go across the car park, then turn right towards the wood, and go along the forest road (at first the descent is quite steep), as far as the railway viaduct above the road. Go down towards the first crossroad below, in Kořenov. There, turn left and cross the old bridge over the Jizera River, further among the cottages – and there you are in Údolí naděje. Almost the whole of the route, from the car park below Bukovec up to there, is guided by the red tourist sign.
Kořenov, Údolí naděje. The road leads up to the wood and through the pike, where at first it steeply inclines along the forest road towards Mýtiny. This part of the road is not guided by the red tourist sign!!! Further, you go along the already familiar local road.
| An alternative: From the car park in Bukovec, continue down along a nice road, straight to the settlement of Jizerka. Turn right on the plain behind the Panský dům Hotel, and go past the local museum (which you can visit if you are interested, and have got time). After you get to a panel road, turn right; go through the pike and take the first right again. If you go further down, you will get to the tourist border crossing to Poland, below. However, some parts of the road may become impossible to be ridden upon, and therefore your bicycle has to be carried. Cross the River Jizera, over the new bridge and the state border at the same time, and you will find yourself in the lovely surroundings of the River Jizera Valley. Behind the bridge, turn left and go up to the signpost, and from there rightwards along a better road to Orle – which is a well-known crossroads, with a restaurant. There, you can either carry on along the asphalt road up to the crossroad for about two kilometres rightwards or, take the road opposite the restaurant as far as the tourist border crossing at Harrachov – Polana Jakuszycna. Behind the crossing, go down to the railway station in Mýtiny and further down to Nový Svět, the beginning of the route. This alternative is a pleasant variation of the main route without noticeable prolongation. |
